POWERade

Everyday, I drink a Powerade because it's good and it's the only good drink in our vending machine. And it wakes me up a little bit......While I was getting my usual drink today, I thought to myself what a good idea for a boring blog post. That's exactly what I'm going to write about! I'm going to write about the origin and any fun facts about Powerade.

Powerade was made in 1988 by the Coca-Cola Company. As you all probably know, Powerade's main competitor is Gatorade. Unfortunately for Powerade, Gatorade is the leading sports drink on the market, with a 83.1% market share. Powerade is only 14.5%.

In 1994, Powerade became the official sports drink of the Olympics. It is also sponsored by the Wallabies, All Black, and England rugby teams, PGA Tour, NASCAR, FIFA, and many others. In 2005, the creators updated the bottle to a new sports grip model. Some interesting facts about Powerade are that Powerade vending machines were featured in the video game Enter the Matrix and also made their appearance in the game Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.

I actually think I remember remarking on the Powerade vending machined in Enter the Matrix. I think I went into a long conversation with my brother about how shitty is was that now commercials had even found their way into our video games. We agreed it was shitty.

That is all.

I never really drink either powerade or gatorade. I just figured I never needed any of the extra stuff that they put into it since I didn't work out nearly as intense as the athletes in the commercials. This is from the gatoarde commercials I think, but when I was a kid I thought it would be cool if you actually sweated the color that you were drinking lol.
